Nothing, part IV

Well some people have been blown away that I'm getting a tattoo, they will remain nameless for the sake of anonymity. Well you see that eye?

Yeah, that's the tattoo I'm getting down. If you're a tool fan you might remember that eye from such cd covers as, Ænima. I'm not sure on where on my body I actually want to put it though strangely enough. I don't want it at some visible place where it would be seen every day so I was thinking the center of my upper back, between my shoulder blades, or on the back of some shoulder, or on the side of my shoulder would be freaky too. Well, that's all to be sorted out sometime I guess. The place I plan on getting this done will be at Tora Tattoo. I've done my research on Tattoo parlors in the KW area and this honestly seems to be one of the best in the GTA.

Anyway, with that off my chest now maybe I can rant about something else in my life. Maybe my troubles in squash I have been having as of late? Well last week I was playing with one of my friends in Waterloo and the game was at 8-7 for me. So things were getting aggressive, in a friendly way, at the T fighting for position. I was behind Kevin and to his left and he saw me motion to run to his right because I could tell he was getting ready to drop the ball there so he switched footing at the last second and drove the ball to my left. By doing so he there was a collision between his racket and my head that cause one of us to drop to the ground, guess which one? But anyway, no damage to the racket was done and thankfully it survived! My head on the other hand did receive quite a bump but I'm ok. I managed to fuck my wrist up that game too by running into the wall and stopping myself with my hand. :( Been a hard few days in the life of Daryl I tell ya!!

Well payday is tomorrow, thanks be to god!!! This whole monthly pay day thing is killing me!! I only received two weeks salary for the two weeks I worked in July and I've had to live off that for a month, which is not easy. So I'm going to get a direct deposit tonight (maybe) of a crazy amount of cash into my bank account. Oh I can't wait for it! lol Most of it is spent already but it's still going to be nice to see my account jump up x dollars :)

Anyway, you bore me computer. I'm off to do bigger and better things!! Like debug code!!!

In the words of Ron Jeremy....

I figure it's about that time of the week where I try to bang out a half sensible response to all my friends, family and fans who stay on bushland.net and hit F5 all day long. Sorry it's been so long, but here comes the noise.

Ok, not really much noise to be made just a small whimper in the life of Daryl. The weekend I was reintroduced to an old love of mine who I haven't seen in years, sounds exciting huh? Well it's not, the love was StarCraft. Me and a few friends played it Saturday night and it was a good laugh. The passion now burns deep in my heart to vanquish the world of Zerg, yet again!!! What a loser you're thinking right? In the words of Ron Jeremy, Suck my dick! :) I am a loser!

I finally heard back from the tattoo parlor I'm going to go and get something freakish put on my back and I think I will have it done before x-mas. I really look forward to getting my first tattoo done, should be a laugh. I got it picked out and it will take at least 5 hours to do, or so, but it will be worth it. I will put a picture of what I'm getting up on my site when I actually do confirm the date, time and put my deposit down. Only then will I say what it is because it will be set in stone.

What else, I've started running again now during my lunch breaks and it's fun. I go to the gym now and usually hit it for about 45 minutes, shower go back to work, then go and lift weights after work. It's a half challenging schedule to keep but it's worth it. Just wondering how long I can keep this pace up though.

Anyway, I got bigger and better things to be doing than typing to this bloody screen.

Read if your bored...cause I wrote it when I was

What to post about? Work has been busy for the past few weeks. I've been looking the devil in the eyes over the past few days, and the devil's name is Perl Guts! Oh it's an interesting sight to be seen through the eyes of a debugger, I kid you not. I'm writing this post as I wait for a breakpoint to hit, speaking of which....

Ok, I received a swift kick in the nuts the other day. It turns out that the only people who are allowed to buy Pearl Jam tickets are American citizens who are over the age of 18. It is a fundraiser for Kerry so I guess I understand, but it leaves me high and dry. I really don't think it will be a problem to get a ticket but god only knows with this event. Man, the venues seem so great too. They can only hold around 5000 people at each location, some bigger then that though. It would be such an intimate event with one of my favorite bands. I don't care how I get in I'm going!!! lol I'll dress up as Kerry if must!

I'm going to put my amazing sense of style to use today and visit my local Swedes, IKEA, and see what they are up to. The apartment is looking great already but it still seems a bit bare to me, plus I still need *some* more basics. This way I can make a trip to TO and pick up a new computer case. It's a sleek looking, piano black, case. Check it out at NCIX. I know what you're thinking, what a geek? Well yeah! Fuck ya if you got a problem with it. :) I think that was the first swear on bushland.net, wow :) I don't feel so innocent anymore........anyway. Reason why I'm getting said case is to house a MythTV box I'm building.

Anyway....break point!! I'm out!..

Movie Database

I figured it was time to actually organize the movies that I do have, divx, dvd's, and even anime. Right now I don't have a sweet clue how many movies I have and also which ones! Big pain in the ass if you ask me. So as of today I'm starting my own movie database that will help me keep all this shit inline. Well you can check out what I have done already, just one test movie in there for now, but it will be completed very soon because it takes no time to complete. Anyway check it out if you want!

The Move is on...

Well I figure I would sit back here now and take a break from packing up and moving to my new apartment. For those who don't know I have been sleeping on a rotational shift between my friends couch and a blow up mattress that has a slow leak in it. Let's just say I haven't had a good night sleep in a while!! Well I had the odd good night sleep but that's another post all together. The new apartment is a one bedroom in Kitchener with rent being a grand total of......635, with heat, light, cable, phone, and internet included. Not to shabby if you ask me. I'm half excited about unpacking my freakin bags and putting my clothes away somewhere other than a suitcase.

To prepare for the move I purchased myself a nice queen sized bed today. It has to possibly be the softest bed I have ever slept on in my life, one of those weird ones with the coils and stuff in it. The mattres and box spring costed me 1099 bucks! Well if I don't like the damn thing I will just return it and get another, but for now I will survive. I'm just on the way out the door now to go for wings and beer to semi-celebrate my parting of the couch/air mattress.

I'll post pictures here sometime soon of my new place once I'm moved in...

Concert Update

Well, it's that time of the season. The time where I spread my wings and enjoy the fact that I'm not living in Newfoundland! Sounds stupid eh? The thing is back home we don't get many big acts to come through, or even small acts! It's just to expensive for these bands to play back home, the fact that we have a small population doesn't help much either. Well I already have three big acts lined up now for the next month.

The first concert I will be checking out is Sarah McLachlan at the Molson Amphitheater in Toronto! I got pretty good seats, section 201 so I'm pretty content with that. It promises to be a great show. I've actually listened to Sarah for a long time and I do really enjoy her music. I've listened to her new album a lot so I'm pretty sure I will enjoy the concert a lot!

The next concert/concerts I will be going to is Pearl Jam!!!! They are actually going on tour really soon for the "Vote For Change tour", a tour with a lot of other major acts to try and get Bush out of the White House. Pearl Jam is a very political band and I respect that a lot, after hearing a lot of their live concerts they are always commenting on current world events and they have always been vocal about their own beliefs.

I'm actually going to drive from Waterloo to Ohio to see them play on Oct 2nd, it's only a 4-5 hour drive. Then I'm going to follow Pearl Jam to MI and see them again on Sunday night, the third. I was thinking about trying to catch the Friday show but it's a little bit to far for me to drive to and I think two shows is enough, this way I won't have to miss any work, oh joy. Anyway, it's going to be wicked. Only shitty thing is that I'm probably going to be doing this by myself but Jesus!! It's Pear jam!!! lol

Right after I see Pearl Jam I get to go see Metallica on oct 6th in Toronto! Now that's going to be a messed up concert! I tried to get General Admission but they were sold out but I did get level 100 seats so I'm not that far off. That's going to be a wicked show just to see their older stuff played, you know? Load can lick my nuts and the reload can lick my ass. I don't care what you say about Metallica and napster, I'm going to enjoy the concert. I actually hate them for what they did and said but I'm still going to support them by going to their show, dammed if I will ever buy a CD by them.

That's what's on my plate right now. Should be some good times ahead!!! I will comment and post pictures when I go to the shows.

Cheers,
Daryl

Website Update!

Well my hosting package has now changed and is a little bite more powerful now. I've now got myself 10 gigs of storage and I can transfer 80 gigs a month! That's to much bandwidth, so I'm contemplating in becoming a mirror for some websites now. Just to save some other people a little bandwidth. I wish I could put software up here but it's kind of against the law and my user agreement. I also received 5 MYSQL databases and shell access to everything, which is great. In case your wondering this is what sparked this upgrade of blog software and it has given me a drive to fully update this web page, I have a lot of stuff to throw up!

I'm doing a small bit of hosting for friends now, < a href = "jen.bushland.net/gallery/">Jen, < a href = "kmadill.bushland.net/gallery/">Kevin, and a local band back home Shilo are all hosting off me. Not sure how much they use their WebPages but I'm not about to stop hosting for them.

Well besides this new Blog there isn't much really new here to talk about. Because I don't have to go to school anymore I will actually have some free time to dedicate to keeping this website updated and throwing a lot of new stuff up for the masses!

I'm out...

George W. Bush

You see, my domain name is called Bushland so I'm going to do a small experiment here and talk about George W. Bush for a while and how he is running for president of the united states. Actually I am attending a anti-bush concert, with pearl jam, in October so hopefully that will make a difference in getting George W. Bush out of the white house. Have George W. Bush controlling the world scares me to be honest, but let' see if google will rank me half high now if you searched for George W. Bush or George Bush. I would laugh if I made it to the top 10, ahh well...time t sit back and wait for the spider!!! :)

My new life in Waterloo

This post goes out to all the fans of bushland.net who are wondering where Daryl is right now? I mean, I haven't updated my website in a while, right? Well don't you worry, I'm actually alive and well. I've been living in Waterloo, ON for the past month now starting my "career" with Research In Motion. It's actually a bit freaky that I'm not leaving here in four months to go back to school, but the pay cheques are great so I'll look past that!

All honesty though it is a half big adjustment to move up here for good. Right now I'm still sleeping on an air mattress, although I'm buying a nice bed this week for myself. I'm actually looking to spend around 1200 or so for a bed that will last me more or less a life time. Can't cheap out on sleep, you do it 8 hours a day, or less if you're like me :) The drive up here (3300 km) from Newfoundland was actually quite enjoyable. It took me three days to do it this time, but then again I did take my dead time to get up here. Nothing amazing happened on the drive up, besides the ferry not running and me having to stay in my car for 14 hours and wait for it to start up again :( I stopped into Ottawa for a day/night to visit a few people I know there, that was a blast.

I haven't really been up to much since I moved here. I started to go to the gym again religiously, oh joy. I've also broke out the good ole squash racquet and my bike and I've been slowly attempting to get my cardio health up again, although not like it's bad now. One good thing about RIM is that they will pay me up to 200 dollars for a gym membership, in other words a year membership costs me about 100 bucks! That's a great deal, plus they have 4 squash courts at GoodLife fitness.

I got an apartment lined up for the 14th, so not much longer and I can move in to relax! It will be really nice to unpack and just start buying stuff to fill up the place, like food and other very important things. My new apartment is a 1 bedroom in Kitchener and I got a pretty good deal on it, 635 everything in. That includes cable, internet, utilities, phone etc. Not to shabby if you ask me. The only downside is that it's only until December, but that's kind of good I guess. Let's me get my feet on the ground and stuff right??? Right!!! :)

Anyway, this post is long and boring so I'll go now.

Cheers,
Daryl
